New or Refurbished If you are purchasing a
NEW A3
machine stick to you guns, it is cheaper
to buy just the copier if the machine is
capable of copying
A3 this does not apply to
refurbished equipment, it will
sometimes increase the cost if a
supplier has got to remove printer /
scanner interface cards and replace
panel work. There are several exceptions
to the rule such as Muratec.
Outright Purchase
machines are
supplied on a COD basis.
Finance
machines can be
supplied over 1,2,3,4 or 5 year terms. If you
finance a machine you are agreeing to make all the
payments, if you settle early you will have to pay
the outstanding lease payments. A machine costing
£1000 over a 3 year term will equate to 12 quarterly
payments of £107.20 which means you pay £1286.40 in
total, there are tax advantages in leasing 100% of
your annual rental payments are offset able against
tax.
Multi-function
machines are now the norm, It is considerably more
expensive to purchase a conventional copier than a
multifunction machine
New is
self explanatory, although on office equipment the
warranty is delivered by the dealer. That cheap
machine on the internet from Scotland might be not
such a wise buy when it goes wrong.
Total Cost of
Ownership When evaluating a multifunction
printer, beware of looking only at the cost of the
initial hardware. There are a number of other
factors to consider, including the cost of supplies.
Once ink costs are taken into consideration, inkjet
multifunction printers, initially perceived as being
low cost, often turn out to have an equivalent or
higher TCO than the higher performing laser and
solid ink multifunction printers. TCO can also
increase significantly for devices that are hard to
use and maintain, unreliable, or lack the features
and capability to efficiently and effectively
produce the results you need.
